Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS THE APOGEE CODE?

At Apogee we live by a code. We uphold the standard and we do the work necessary to keep that standard, and move forward.

The Apogee Code is: Honor, Honesty, Integrity, Loyalty, Politeness, Bravery, Compassion

WHAT AGES ARE YOU ACCEPTING?

We are currently accepting young leaders ages 5-11 (K-5th) for our founding year (August 2025 - June 2026). Apogee Reno will expand to into both middle school and high school in coming years.

WHEN DOES THE YEAR START/END?

Check back soon for 2025 calendar.

To receive the calendar when it is created, please fill out our contact form.

WHAT DOES THE SCHOOL YEAR LOOK LIKE?

Our year will be split into 7 sessions, each running anywhere from 3-6 weeks. Sessions are followed by a 1 week break, with the exception of December providing a 2 week break. At the end of each session we will have a showcase day for parents and community members to join us to see what we have been working so hard on creating!

WHAT DOES AN AVERAGE DAY LOOK LIKE?

Every day at Apogee Reno is a microcosm of life. Our goal is to develop real world skills that will be useful for the entirety of life. The primary educational experience comes in the form of fun Project Based Learning experiences where our young leaders not only learn the material but learn why it's important and how to apply it. We use Socratic Conversations, Rhetoric, Debate, and Philosophy to build communication, critical thinking, communication, and civil discourse skills. Our physiology class will partner exercise with education on biology, anatomy, nutrition, psychology, and more. We will supplement our PBL with traditional reading and academics to master specific skills.

In short, we will have six blocks of time each day:

-Socratic conversation time

-Core academics time

-Physical education time

-Real world projects based on a theme or loose parts play for our youngest leaders

-Jobs and responsibilities time (on campus for our young leaders)

-Outside free play time

IS APOGEE RENO A FULL TIME EDUCATIONAL OPTION FOR MY CHILD?

Yes. Apogee Reno will operate on 4+1 schedule. Monday through Thursday will be considered "full time." Friday's are enrichment days which consist of members of the community joining us to display, teach, and assist our students in various skills and professional outlets (i.e., mechanic showing them how to change a tire, baker teaching cookie/cake decoration, dance instructor leading a class, BJJ instructor leading a class, etc.)

We will welcome our learners on campus between 8:30 - 9:00am and end our days at 3:00pm.

CAN HOMESCHOOL FAMILIES NOT ENROLLED FULL-TIME IN APOGEE RENO ENJOY ENRICHMENT DAYS ON FRIDAYS?

Yes! We welcome homeschool families to join us on our Enrichment Fridays. These Fridays will be a full day from 9:00am-3:00pm and will include members of our community who will come to teach our students about various skills and professional outlets.

While Enrichment Fridays are included in tuition for Apogee Families, pricing for outside homeschool families will be announced shortly.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

Apogee Reno does not currently have a location however we will be located in South Reno. We are considering several locations which will serve our campus for 1-2 years while we break ground on our forever campus location.

WHAT VALUE DO YOU PLACE ON HEALTH AT APOGEE RENO?

At Apogee Reno, we consider health to be extremely important. Kids are to bring their own lunches and we ask that the lunches are healthy and do not include items such as sugary drinks, candy, and overly processed food. If we have an event at school where we offer food, we will do our best to offer well sourced, well balanced meals. We love Weston A. Price as a guideline for nutrition.

Physiology is at the heart of Apogee Reno and physical fitness will be prioritized every day.

IS APOGEE RENO A MONTESSORI SCHOOL?

Apogee Reno respects and incorporates Maria Montessori's philosophies, but we are not a Montessori School. In addition to Montessori methods, we incorporate daily physical fitness, physiology from Physiology First, interactive technologies for self-paced academics, hands-on projects and Socratic based discussions.

WHY DO YOU HAVE MIXED AGE CLASSROOMS?

When in life do you interact with just your age group? At Apogee Reno we are preparing our leaders for life, not the next exam. Research indicates that in mixed age learning environments, younger children learn from older ones through observation and interaction, while older children develop empathy, patience, and leadership skills by mentoring younger peers.

WHAT IS A PARENT'S ROLE AT APOGEE RENO?

Parents are critical to the success of our young Apogee leaders. Parents must understand that this model of education works only when education and home run in parallel. If you're looking to drop-off your kids and have limited capacity to be involved, Apogee Reno is not for you.

Parents sign a contract at the beginning of the year where they commit to invest in their children (and themselves) as Apogee Men and Women. As a benefit to enrolling in Apogee Reno, all parents have access to Apogee Man and Apogee Woman for FREE ($4K value). These programs are optional (but highly encouraged) 12-month intensive self development programs.

ARE YOU A PRIVATE SCHOOL?

For Fall 2025, we are a full-time, in-person educational center for homeschool families. Parents are the primary educators and utilize our program and facility to further equip, train, and prepare their young leaders to excel at life in the 21st century.

We are a family leadership academy that offers every parent the opportunity to join Apogee Man or Apogee Woman, a 12-month intensive self-development program aimed at enhancing every area of their lives - marriage, family, relationships, finances, faith, and fitness.
